Asset TV & Thomson Reuters Lipper: UK Commercial Property Funds – A Year On

by Jake Moeller.

Recorded on: August 16, 2017

In the summer of 2016, an unexpected Brexit outcome in the U.K’s EU membership referendum resulted in sudden outflows of some £2 billion from U.K. commercial property funds. This forced the temporary suspensions of many popular funds and hearkened investors back to the post-GFC suspensions of 2008.

In this short Asset TV interview, Jake Moeller, Head of Lipper UK and Ireland Research at Thomson Reuters compares the fund flow data for the two periods. He examines the issue of daily pricing for this illiquid asset, how fund managers address liquidity, and considers investor perceptions for this popular asset class.
